Friday mornings 9.30 – 10.30am

 

Join these fun sessions in a supportive atmosphere and suitable for all abilities.
Be guided by professional singer, vocal coach and Member Anna Boucher. Building week on week, the sessions will culminate in some friendly performances. No sessions on Friday 21st and 28th October.

Wine Tasting

Chiswick House
and Gardens

Chiswick House and Gardens is one of the most glorious examples of 18th-century British architecture and landscaped gardens, with over 300 years of discovery, inspiration and delight. Stunning interiors, a rich collection of Old Masters paintings and a 19th-century Italian Garden with a magnificent conservatory, home to the oldest collection of camellias in Britain, this is an outing not to be missed.

Halloween pool party and workshop

Walking Tour from Whitehall to Grosvenor Square via our War Memorials

 

Tuesday 1st November, 8.30am

 

As we approach Remembrance Day, join Viv Haxby, Club Member and Blue Badge Guide, as she tells the stories behind some of our best-known war memorials, and some of the less familiar ones. Viv will tell us about individual sacrifice and National loss, and about our country’s involvement in conflicts from the age of Napoleon to the War on Terror. We will be covering quite a large area, so there will be the opportunity for a coffee stop in St James’s Park.

An evening with
Sir Thomas Allen

 

Thursday 3rd November, 7pm

 

An evening of conversation with Club Member Sir Thomas Allen CBE whose rich and varied life has included singing leading roles in the world’s top opera houses, playing Figaro in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, and Don Giovanni. He has sung over 50 roles for the Royal Opera House alone. It was during this time that Sir Thomas was hailed as the finest English baritone since Sir Charles Santley. He recently retired after 10 years as Chancellor of the University of Durham and still travels the world talking about his illustrious career.
‘There’s much more to the man than Mozart’ says fellow Member and artist manager Helen Smart who hopes to tease out his memories and anecdotes in an evening-guaranteed to entertain

Fireworks Spectacular

Bring friends and family to the Club’s biggest and loudest social gathering of the year. Award-winning firework display set to music; walkabout entertainment and tempting food stalls in the Piazza. Warm up after the show with a drink in the bar while the children enjoy a magic show and disco.

Private Guided Tour of

The Poppy Factory

 

Monday 14th November, 11am – 1pm

 

Explore the Home of Remembrance in Richmond as the Poppy Factory marks its centenary in 2022. Discover the story of the people behind the poppies at the charity’s new visitor centre and exhibition. Established in the aftermath of the First World War, the Poppy Factory developed into a community of wounded and injured veterans and their families. You can see how veterans still make royal and regimental wreaths by hand and have a go at making your own poppy.
