On 10th April Roehampton Club hosted Stephen Hendry and Gary Lineker to film an episode of Stephen Hendry’s Cue Tips on YouTube.
Gary is an avid snooker fan and player, who was also close friends with Willie Thorne. He shares some brilliant stories from their time together in Leicester. Gary also chats about his memories of Paul Gascoigne, how he got into TV, playing with Diego Maradona and when he played golf with Michael Jordan.
In addition to this, the last series of leagues is currently being played with the final deadline fixed for 8th June. We will break for the summer but if any Members would like to participate in future leagues please let me know, they start again in September.
The Atherton Collins Club Championship is under way at the moment with Alex Rose defending his title from last year.
Well done to Craig de Silva for winning the James Selby Winter Handicap competition in March in a final against Iain Welsh.
We will soon be starting the Roberta Luxton Ladies’ competition. Please let me know if anyone would like to take part.
Finally, my thanks to Iain Welsh and Matt Woolston for taking over the Snooker Captaincy. They will be organising all inter club fixtures from now on. Best of luck to them.
