Services Golf Day

Monday 12 June 2023

Longstanding Member Duncan Christie-Miller is organising this year’s Services Golf event and is both hoping for good weather and an enthusiastic turnout.

It will be a shotgun start and we hope that all 72 places will be filled.

This year we are highlighting a critical aspect of Service life – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD Resolution is a small, highly efficient Charity which reaches out to Service men and women of all the Services who are suffering from PTSD.

PTSD Resolution provides personal therapy and coaching and has an amazing success rate. All the executives work pro bono. You will meet the CEO – Colonel Tony Guvain and learn how this energetic and results oriented Charity has become a true hidden gem.

Each year, PTSD Resolution organises a highly effective combined therapy and fund raising event – this year they have chosen to organise a 750 mile bike challenge in Scotland – to be led by former Royal Marine Colonel Jono Thomson:  you will meet him and other participants.

Funds we raise will be used for life-saving therapy and to help ensure that their efforts, support and commitment can continue to be so successful.

Marc Newey, CEO has pledged that the Club will match the money raised by our golfing efforts.

The course is reserved from 09:30, with players meeting from 08:00.  There will be a PTSD Resolution display in the Club Café.

At the meal after the game, PTSD Resolution will give us a short talk about their values, work and results.  There will be an auction and raffle in aid of PTSD Resolution – only a few items but it would be quite excellent for us to support this very worthwhile charity which does so much for so many of our Service personnel.

The cost of the event is £45 per player with all proceeds going to PTSD Resolution.

Meet and check-in from 08:00
Shotgun start at 09:30
Cost is £45 to include golf, half-way house refreshments and a two-course lunch.
