Congratulations Josh Miller

Over the last two to three years Josh has been completing his Level Five Master Club Coach Qualification.

The Level 5 Master Tennis Club Coach (MCC) qualification is the highest level of LTA coaching award run by the LTA Coach Development team and is for coaches who aspire to work at the very highest level of development coaching. It has now been achieved by 70+ coaches across the UK.

The MCC encompasses an even split between off court and on court sessions delivered by the course tutors and a range of guest speakers to inspire and improve your coaching and business knowledge.

I’m pleased to announce that Josh finished his final assessments for the course last week and is now a qualified Level Five Coach. I’m sure he will bring his new experience and skills to the court and make his lessons even more valuable

How to secure an Indoor Tennis Court this winter

As we go into the winter and the weather deteriorates, indoor courts will again be in huge demand. The new Airhall One over courts 12-14 with new chandelier LED lights coupled with the courts in the ITC will give us six premium covered courts this year. However, with high participation levels across the Club, accessing an indoor court may still be difficult at certain times. Therefore, it maybe worth thinking about how you can give yourself more chances of securing an indoor court. I would recommend looking at the peak and off-peak times and deciding if it may be possible to play your organised games at less busier times.

Peak times include weekend mornings where we have lots of junior coaching groups running and tends to be when younger families come to the Club that cannot come during the week. After 1pm on the weekends, courts tend to become less busy and there are fewer organised tennis activities, therefore if you can play in the afternoons instead of the morning it could be easier to access an indoor court.

Peak times during the week are in the mornings between 9am and 12pm. Currently, we have lots of organised social and coaching activity during this period.  Between 12pm and 4pm the courts are very quiet and therefore an ideal time to play in the winter if you can.

After 6:30pm during weekdays is very busy with Members who cannot play during the day, and it is also when the Club runs its various organised Member social sessions. Therefore, it may become more difficult to access the indoor courts at this time.
