Racketlon London Open 2019

From 16th – 18th August 2019 the Club hosted the London stop on the Racketlon FIR World Tour – www.racketlon.net Racketlon involves opponents playing each other at Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and then Tennis (in that order). Each sport is played to 21 points and the player who scores the most points across all four sports wins the Racketlon match.

Nineteen Roehampton Club Members joined Racketlon participants from around the world in the three-day tournament. They gained success in the Mixed B Doubles where Member and PSA Squash World No.11 Alison Waters, paired with Club Racquets Manager Paul Lindsay, won silver medals and Members Justin Colver and Peter Crocombe won gold in the Men’s C Doubles on their Racketlon debut. Vicky O’Donnell also won a silver medal in the Women’s B Amateur Singles.

In the Women’s Singles, all eyes were on Alison Waters as she battled through to the final and showed her potential for a future career in the sport. She just lost to the experienced German Amke Fischer in a ‘down to the last few points’ match. Fischer and Leon Griffiths both walked away from Roehampton Club as champions after winning the Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles titles.

As UK Sports Club of the Year Roehampton Club is the ideal venue to host Racketlon over three days and the event catered for all playing standards and age groups so Members loved taking part against some of the European Racketlon elite or just their friends. We hope to host it again next summer as it was such a success.
