Some dates for your diary
Photoclub Lecture
PhotoClub looks forward to welcoming Paul Sanders as a lecturer on March 4th at 8pm.
Following his previous visit to the Club in 2016 to talk about his time as the Times Picture Editor his life in photography took a different turn.
Now an award-winning photographer running successful photography retreats in the UK and beyond, he will focus on ‘The Soul of the Creator’. This asks questions of our motivation as image-makers, as well as touching on mindfulness, and as such is of interest to not just all artists but everyone.
To quote Paul,
‘I believe that photography is a very personal journey. The world whispers stories all around us, but in our rush, their melodies fade into the background noise. Photography, though, offers a pause, a chance to amplify the whispers and cultivate an appreciation for the simple beauty woven into every moment. This is the essence of mindful photography: not about garnering applause, but about capturing contentment.
We all lead busy lives, connected by the highest speed possible to every means of communication available. Everything clamours for our attention; texts, email, Facebook, Instagram and time simply slips through our fingers.’
Sadly, we are not able to host Paul in person given the restrictions on public space in the Club at this time. Please therefore register for this Zoom-only lecture at Reception or call them on 020 8480 4200. Free for Art Group members only.
Joining the Art Group (£15 for your first year) at Reception will enable attendance at seven art lectures and occasional photography lectures, as well as art and photography classes.
