Lady Golf Captain’s Blog

I hope all of you have had a nice break over Easter and maybe caught some of The Masters. Sadly, I fell asleep when Jon Rahm was on the 14th! But I was very excited to see the results when I woke up. Pretty amazing to have Rahm win the Masters on Seve Ballesteros birthday with Olazabal in attendance. But let us get to our own results now.

Competitions

On Easter Saturday there was a mixed Masters Money Ball Bogey Competition. Big congratulations to Steffi Williams who took first place and to Katy Preston who came fourth. Always good to see the women high up on the result board! Well played! I couldn’t play but I hear the format was fun so maybe we will try that again later in the year.

Last week we played the Coronation Foursomes.

1st Kathleen Bacon and Jackie Beedle             36 Points – CB
2nd Astrid Drayson and Louise Tierney            36 Points
3rd Rosemary Paterson and Valerie Patten     34 Points

Well done to all the winners. Kathleen and Jackie will go on to the next round of the competition and represent Roehampton Club.

Next week we are having a fun Greensomes competition. There are still a few spaces available, so please sign up if you are free!

The week after we are playing PING 4BBB. The winners will have the chance of qualifying for a PING final if their score is good enough. One year I was hoping to go with my partner but disappointingly our 42 points were not enough that year!

Ladies vs Men Coronation Match

On Monday 8th May we will celebrate the Coronation by a Ladies vs Men match captained by our men’s Captain Simon Butler and myself. It is individual sign up and Simon and I will try to optimise our respective teams. If we have enough players we might be able to do a shotgun start. Please sign up if you are free. Game on Simon!

Interclub Golf

Centenary Bowl will not play their matches against Cranleigh until June. Lots of time to practise!

The Hicks Team is playing against Woodcote Park in May.

The Wallis Team played Reigate Heath at home on 16th April and had a good 3/2 win with a lot of shots given by all. Well played! The away match takes place on 29th April.

The Pearson Team will play their quarter final away against Woking on 2nd May and the home match will be on 10th May.

Best of luck for the next matches!

Captain and Pro match

Since last Ricky and I have played yet another Captain and Pro. The pairing of Christina O’Connell and Caroline Leslie proved to be very tough opposition. I am sad to report that my winning streak has come to an end … but as Ricky told me I can still say that I remain unbeaten! The match went to the 18th, and it came down to the last putt, but we ended up halving the match. Phew!

Thank you so much Ricky, Christina and Caroline for playing and supporting Age UK Wandsworth.

Course Etiquette

Hasn’t our course been looking fabulous. Peter and David are doing an amazing job. Please let us do our bit by raking the bunkers, replacing divots and repairing any pitch marks that we see on the green whether it is our own or not!

Enjoy your golf!
