Ladies’ Golf Blog

At last golf is beginning to feel more normal – all we need is a bit more warmth.

Our first competition the Annual Stableford took place on Tuesday with 66 entries and some great scores were achieved despite three months off.

The results were:

Silver Division
1st  Sian Bayliss  39 Points
2nd  Lou Wills  38 Points
3rd  Rachel Gilman  36 Points

Bronze Division
1st  Claire Martin  41 Points
2nd  Angie Goodale  36 Points
3rd  Jean Halliday   35 Points

Congratulations to Claire Martin for scoring 41 Points and winning the Ladies Annual Stableford.

ECLETIC / ORDER OF MERIT

At the same time the Eclectic began. For those of you who haven’t entered yet it is not too late, please give an 18 hole card to Louis and he will arrange the £5 entry fee proceeds of which go to my chosen charity, the Wandsworth Summer Scheme.

The Eclectic is a bit of fun; a competition that runs until October whereby you put in an 18 hole score initially and every time you play 9 holes or more you try to better your previous score on each hole.   Trying to achieve par or lower on the course over the year.  There is a prize to the winner (handicap taken into account).  If in doubt and you would like to enter please talk to Louis.

The Order of Merit also commenced on Tuesday and will run throughout the year.  You can view both results on IG.

ANNABELL FULLER

Annabell Fuller who is at Florida State University played in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship, made the cut and finished tied 22.  All this while playing with a broken finger.  An absolutely amazing achievement and a great opportunity for her.

4BBB KNOCK OUT

A number of you signed up last year for the 9 hole version of this, please sign up again, it is a great format.  If you don’t have a partner, email Louis Laville, Golf and Games Assistant – louis.laville@roehamptonclub.co.uk and he will try to pair you with someone.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Club Championships will take place on 19th June. There will be restricted numbers.  It is the same day as the Men’s and will be a 36 hole medal.

LADY CAPTAIN’s DAY

Hurrah – this may finally happen! Please put 13th July in your diaries and I will try to make it as enjoyable as restrictions allow!  It may be four players per team.

SPRING MEETING AND CHALLENGE CUPS

This year the Bronze and Silver Challenge Cups will be played in your own time not on a specific day.  Be prepared as there will be no excuse for the top eight in each division (as per the old divisions) to play a knock out after the Spring Meeting from which we will have the winners of the Challenge Cups.

For those of you who have not read Louis’s email here again is the list of upcoming competitions.

 COUNTY CARDS

The County Card App is now live and is available for download via the App Store.

Please see the user guide which provides details on how to set up your account and login to the County Card App here: USER GUIDE

Unlike previous years the card will now be valid and run each year from 1st January to the 31st December.

Please note your 10 digit CDH number can be found via Intelligent Golf. Please go to My Golf – My Rounds. It will be underneath ‘Statistics for NAME’

WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM

A word about the new handicap system.  The more cards you put in the more reflective your handicap will be.  The WHS will still look at the best 8 out of 20 rounds and take the average of these scores, therefore the more times you put in a card the better.

If you would like further information on the WHS, then you can find under the Information heading within your IG profile.

SLCGA Open Competitions

SLCGA are running a number of competition days over the summer and autumn for all abilities starting in June with the Seniors Championship on 3rd June and the Bronze Fun Day on 10th June.

The details and the entry forms for these and all the other Surrey competitions are available on the SLCGA website. http://www.slcga.org/

These are really enjoyable days of golf on other courses so do have a look online and enter!

FINALLY – REPAIR PITCHMARKS

We need to do our part to keep the course which will have so much wear this year, in good order so please remember to

REPAIR YOUR PITCH MARK – everyone should repair a minimum of two per green yours or not!

It was very noticeable that there were VERY FEW on Saturday afternoon when  I know most of you know who primarily plays on Saturday mornings and leave you to draw your own conclusions.  I would like the same to be drawn after Tuesday mornings!

Click here for reminder of Pitch Mark repair in this week’s Grass Clippings

I look forward to trying to play with as many of you as possible.
