Frost stops play

Having survived through all the rain, thanks to the excellent work of the Grounds Team, which has affected most facilities through the autumn and winter, we have finally been ‘hit’ by the recent sharp frosts.

It isn’t too bad if there is bright sunlight and a temperature rise throughout the mornings as the thaw is usually quick, but on cloudy days, as last weekend, we lose the lawn for the day – fully understandable as we must do everything to avoid damage to the grass.

Summer Competitions

The entry forms for the Summer Competitions have been circulated.

We are delighted to report a new competition, for the Mike Hann Cup (donated anonymously), for Association Croquet Advanced Singles, -1 to 4 handicaps, (one game).

New Member Event

The Section was pleased to attend last weekend’s New Members’ Reception along with all the other Sections.

Hopefully we have attracted some new interest and our photo shows some young Members with eyes on a trophy …
