Padel Tennis Championship Finals
The inaugural padel tennis championships have been very popular and the finals this Saturday (10am to 3pm) are bound to be highly contested. Please come and watch this exciting fast-growing sport as Members of all ages compete to win the Club’s trophies.
National Team Tennis Championships- Bournemouth 10-12 September
Our Men’s and Ladies’ First Teams are competing at West Hants TC with the men looking to defend their national title. The women have qualified for the first time in a number of years so both teams want to do well. The Tennis Channel is live streaming the event so you can watch how both teams get on – click here for details
Joe Salisbury and Annabell Fuller
Our top two sports stars are in the news again – Joe is competing in the US Open Men’s Doubles as 4th seed and Annabell scored 3 points out of 5 as GB&I unfortunately lost to the US in the Curtis Cup in a tight match at Conwy GC last weekend. She then came back to the Club to compete in the Frankland Moore Mixed Foursomes on Monday to wind down before flying back to Florida University this week.
Grass Tennis Courts
Lastly this week I urge you to grab a game on our grass courts before they close to undergo their annual maintenance to ensure they are in the best condition to open next May. Chris, Simon, Russell and Kevin have worked hard all year, despite the awful wet weather, to give you the best grass surfaces they can. Many Members have commented how superb they are this year. Courts 19-14 will close w/c 13th September and Courts 25-28 will close the following week. With the second half of September forecasting to be wet yet again, make the most of every dry day up to then. The only upside of the consistent inclement weather is the golf course has looked green and well defined all summer!
Best wishes,
Marc
