Happy New Year.
Great news. Paul is trialling a supervised play session on Friday 8th January at 10am.
This will be a supervised play session where you can attend individually, as a pair, or as a table to play hands. Paul will be available to assist you with bidding questions, defence and declarer play advice.
This first session is FREE. If it is a success then Paul will be running a regular supervised play session every Friday at 10am at a cost of £5.
Paul will send the link out for Friday’s session in his weekly emails. If you don’t receive these but would like to play in the supervised session please email Paul on pm@aceoftrumps.com and he will send you a link.
The new Team’s League starts on Friday 8th January at 1.30pm. We have 11 teams participating and it is being run as one League over 11 weeks with a sit out for one team each week. Good luck to everyone involved.
From 1st January we have started to charge £2 for each Duplicate session that you play in, be it on BBO or Real Bridge. If you would like to bring a guest to play with they are most welcome. However, there will be a £3 guest fee pus the £2 entry fee. So £7 will be taken from your card for that session (£2 for you and £5 for your guest).
Please could you let me know beforehand if a guest will be playing. Please note that I will need their BBO Username before they can participate in any BBO sessions.
Money will be deducted from your membership card at the end of each month. Please make sure that you have topped up your card with Top Up Levy as the Annual Levy is to be used exclusively for Food and Beverage and cannot be used for Bridge.
As Reception is closed at the moment, if you would like to Top Up Levy over the phone, please email Reception_Main@roehamptonclub.co.uk and one of the part-time team will give you a call.
We have our first 2021 friendly teams-of-eight match scheduled for:-
25th February, 4pm vs Hurlingham
The match will be played on the Realbridge platform.

Please only sign up if you have experience of playing on the Realbridge platform and you are comfortable with the format.
(You can practice playing on Realbridge at our regular Tuesday evening duplicate at 7.30pm)
Tim Chanter Bridge Lessons
The fourth term of bridge lessons will commence on Tuesday 12th January, led by Tim Chanter, Grand Master and EBU accredited teacher, who has been working with Roehampton Club since 2018. The course is primarily aimed at those who have attended the previous terms but is open to those who have played some bridge and wish to improve / consolidate their skills.

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Albert Cahn passed away on New Year’s Day. Albert was a very popular Member of the Bridge Room and though he has not played for several years he will be very fondly remembered by many of us.
I do hope that many of you have had/are about to get their first jab. Let’s hope we can roll them out quickly and get back into the Bridge Room soon. It’s good to dream …
