Hurlingham Cup- Match 23rd February

Congratulations to the following team for winning this match and retaining the Hurlingham Cup which we have held since 2019. Apparently, it was a tight match – +18 imps overall, so well-done everyone. This competition was first played in 1956 and we managed to play in 2020 just before Covid struck and then online in 2021. We are running out of space for the engraving!

Bridge/Croquet- Match vs All England – Saturday 25th February

Roehampton Club won the croquet (GC doubles) by 3 to 1. But lost the bridge by 13 IMPs. So, honours even for a very enjoyable social match.

The All England could only field two pairs, so our team was: Ron Wood, Tim Russell, Diana Wilson. Well done to all.

Also, further congratulations to Ron Wood who is the highest scoring member of Roehampton Club on the Masterpoints Leader Board 2022.

Teaching Next Term

Tim Chanter has put together a new syllabus with provisional dates (TBC) for his teaching next term. Please click here for the syllabus and dates for Intermediate and Refresher classes which take place Monday/Tuesday evenings.

Full details and costs will be advertised soon but if you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact Tim on tim@105.org.uk

I’m also pleased to report that I have heard from Paul Mendelson that he hopes to return to the UK for three weeks in July and will teach some face-to-face classes on Wednesday and Friday mornings. This is good news, though not confirmed, but I will update you once I have further information.

Turkey/ Syria Earthquake appeal

During week beginning Monday 17th April we will play our duplicate session as part of a Sims Fundraising Event. (Simultaneous pairs). The same hands will be played at Bridge clubs across the country and there will be commentaries on the hands for each day which will be posted on the site when the results go live – this may be the day after the event.

Table money will be as normal – £4.00 and this will be donated to the fund along with any additional voluntary donations by those taking part.
