EBU Alerting and Announcing -Summary
The annual update of EBU regulation has taken place this month, focussing on alerts and announcements. A new A&A Summary table, with the major changes highlighted by Steve, has been posted on the bridge room notice board.

Pippa Lyons Funeral Details
Following the recent sad news that Pippa passed away on 6th August, a funeral service will take place on 7th September 11am Christchurch, Christchurch Road, East Sheen, London, SW14 7RT, followed by a reception at Roehampton Club at 12.30pm.

Autumn Teaching
Bookings are open for the following two bridge courses which restart from 11th September and 12th September. Please sign up at Reception.

Niall’s Wednesday morning standalone session will also restart on Wednesday 13th September and the syllabus will be posted on the Bridge Board and Bridgewebs as soon as available. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bridge board in reception the week before the start date.
Loulou’s supervised practice also returns Tuesdays at 2pm from 12th September.
Progress is being made for a new beginner’s course to start in September and I hope to publish details soon.
Bridge/Golf Match vs MCC 15th August

Dates for September / October
Monday 4th September – Simultaneous Pairs
At our Monday duplicate we will be running a Simultaneous Pairs, which is an event where the same hands are played and scored up across all participating clubs across the country. A written commentary is available at the end of the session. This event is run by the EBU in support of English Bridge Education Department, which works to encourage more people to take up bridge, especially young people.
Friday 22nd September – Golf/Bridge vs Royal Mid-Surrey- Away
Thursday 28th September- Bridge vs RAC Woodcote- Home
Friday 5th October- Match vs All England for the Irene Hough Cup- Home
Thursday 12th October- No Fears Handicap Trophy- 7.30pm
Monday 16th October- Bridge AGM- 5pm
Thursday 19th October Match vs All England- Home
Sunday 22nd October- Roehampton Annual Swiss Teams – 1.30pm
Thursday 26th October- Ladies Match vs Hurlingham- Home
MCC Mixed Swiss Teams – Sunday 8th October at 11.15am
This is a 6 x 7-board match event played in two sessions in Swiss format. Each team of four must comprise of at least one gentleman and at least one lady. The event is designed for amateur club players, not international experts or those who play at the very highest levels.
The entrance fee is £140 per team, and this includes a sandwich lunch followed by dessert along with tea and coffee throughout the day.
Roehampton Club has been invited to submit a team, (possibly 2 teams), for this event so if you are interested, please e-mail me (juliehbacon@outlook.com) for further information.
