THE ANNUAL THURSDAY SOCIAL CHRISTMAS DUPLICATE with mulled wine, mince pies and prizes.
6.45pm – for bridge start at 7.30pm
Ron will be organising this as usual and it is always a lot of fun.
Just £6 table money.
Please sign up on either the bridge board in Reception or the bridge room – it just helps with the planning. We would hate to run out of mince pies – even more so the mulled wine!
ON CHRISTMAS EVE if you are not battling with a turkey (or if you are battling with the family) please pop in at 11am for some festive cheer, more mince pies, and some Chicago bridge. Very casual but Christmas jumpers are encouraged!

Special Duplicate for Beginners – 12th December
This is for you if you haven’t played duplicate before but would like to try.
Just to give you a brief outline of the evening: –
◊ Tim Chanter (Bridge teacher), myself and some of the bridge committee will welcome you with a glass of wine at 7pm.
◊ After introductions, Tim will give a 5-minute talk about how Duplicate bridge is played and scored.
◊ We will then play about 14 hands of bridge.
◊ At the end there will be a presentation of prizes for the winners. We expect to finish at approximately 9.45pm.
◊ Afterwards we will hold a 15-minute Q&A session on the hands and perhaps some commentary on one or two of them. (Please feel free not stay for this if you don’t wish to – you may have had enough bridge for one evening!)

Winter Rubber Bridge Knockout Competition
The draw for this competition is now posted on the board in the bridge room, with the dates the matches need to be played by. The first match by end of December.
New for January
We are going to run a Trial Rubber bridge session on Saturday 7th January 2pm. I will put up a notice on the bridge board in Reception early December so people can sign up if they are interested in playing. If it is well attended and people are keen, we can run further sessions.
We are also looking into the possibility of running a monthly weekend duplicate but the limiting factor with this is that we would need someone to run it. We can’t employ a professional director for occasional weekends.
If anyone is interested in running a duplicate session on occasional weekends (frequency to be discussed) the EBU provide training sessions which we would make available to you.

The Miller Cup – our annual individual competition is to be held on Sunday 15th January 2pm.
