Annual Exhibition – preparation and evolution

Start preparing your entries for the annual exhibition and sale, which has been getting bigger and better with every year.

To make sure we can fit all the entries onto the panels and to keep improving the exhibition we have decided on a few changes:

1. The maximum size of entries will be 80cm X 80cm, including the frame.

2. We do not want entries which are copies of famous artworks

3. Aim to avoid entering the same image as a fellow student; if your artwork is based on an image provided to you in class then talk with your tutor to minimise duplicates.

Dates for your diaries:

• Autumn Art Lecture on Tuesday 17th September at 8pm: The Aschan Painters: Founders of New York Realism
• The main exhibition is from 12th to 24th November
• Deadline for entry forms will be Friday 11th October
• Entries should be taken in to the Club on Sunday 10th November
• The preview, followed by our annual dinner, is on Tuesday 12th November

Open Studio

On Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 1pm, the Art Studio is available throughout the year for Art Group members to paint or draw together. This summer, until the 10th September, it’s also open on Tuesdays 10 am – 1pm. The exceptions are the following Tuesdays when the Studio will NOT be open: 13th August and 3rd September. Additionally, the Studio will not be open on Saturday 7th September. It’s informal, un-tutored and free to join. Tables and easels are available as required from the easel cupboard. Please clean up (especially if you used pastels or charcoal) and pack away at the end of your session, returning any tables or easels to the cupboard. When visiting, please call at the Security Gatehouse as you come into the Club to check whether the Studio is open, or to have it unlocked.
