Art Group Lecture – The Art of Seduction by Lynne Gibson

 

To be held in the Club only on Tuesday 20th September, 8pm
Free to Art Group members and no need to book

 

Join us to celebrate the theme of love and courtship from the Age of Chivalry to the Modern Age.

 

Seduction has been one of the enduring themes of art since Eve offered Adam an apple. The Italian Renaissance offered painters an Olympian cast of amorous gods and goddesses. Puritanical Dutch and prudish Victorians tutted over the loose morals of fallen women.
We look forward to you joining us to discover whether the ‘Battle of the Sexes’ has killed the spirit of romance?

Art Group members are invited to enter the Exhibition and Sale 2022

 

I am delighted to announce that the Art Group’s annual exhibition and sale will take place this year at the Club from the 8th to 18th November.

 

All Art Group Members are invited to enter, including artists who may be encouraged by their artwork to do so for the first time!

> Take an Instruction Form and an Entry Form from below the Art Group notice board in Reception or click to download them; Instruction Form and Entry Form (this form will open as a word document in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen).
> Complete an Entry Form and hand it with payment of £5 per artwork entered (hopper items are free) to Reception by 5pm Friday 14th October.
> Bring your artwork to the Fountain Room between 5 and 7pm on Sunday 6th November and collect it between 9 and 11am on Saturday the 19th November.

Book a 3-day Life Drawing Masterclass with Kathy Barker

Monday 24th October to Wednesday 26th October

Our new Life Drawing Masterclass with Kathy Barker is aimed at beginners and refreshers alike and offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in life drawing for three days.  The female nude is such a wonderful subject to study and one which has inspired so many famous artists throughout history. You will explore and develop your drawing skills and techniques through a variety of exercises, working from the direct observation of three different models over the duration of the course. You’ll also work in different media from pencil drawing, charcoals, pen and ink through to pastel and collage/mixed media. Kathy will provide demonstrations and individual tuition throughout.

Timings and cost

The Life Drawing Masterclass will run from Monday 24th October to Wednesday 26th October inclusive in the Art Studio.

◊ The charge for the class will be £190. Materials not included – a materials list will be circulated in due course.
◊ Includes 3 full days of teaching from 10 am – 4pm with an hour’s break for lunch (not included) from 1 – 2pm.
◊ Numbers will be strictly limited to a maximum of nine students.
◊ The class will go ahead if we have sufficient students.

If you would like to express your interest in joining the class, please visit Reception or call them on 020 8480 4200 (option 4).  Let them know you are interested in the Life Drawing Master Class.  Classes are available to Art Group members only.  If you’re not a member you can join by paying £10 for membership for the remainder of the year.   Life Drawing Masterclass booking closes 23rd September 2022.  A member of the reception team will add your name to the list on a first come first served basis.  If we have sufficient students and the class goes ahead, you will then be invited to book.

Booking for autumn art classes has now closed

Over 90 students have signed up for the autumn term of art classes which start on the 20th September; the classes on the 19th September are being rearranged as a mark of respect for our longest reigning monarch.
