Looking Over the Arts’ Shoulder: the Italian Sketchbooks of J.M.W. Turner by Nicola Moorby
Nicola is an independent art historian specialising in British art of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Formerly a curator and researcher at Tate Britain she has published widely on J.M.W. Turner, including How to Paint like Turner (Tate Publishing, 2010), and is part of the team preparing the online catalogue of the Turner Bequest.
Nicola has appeared as an expert on television and radio, including most recently Great Paintings of the World with Andrew Marr and her film, An Artist of Note: Turner and the new £20, is featured on the Arts Society Connected website.
This lecture will be followed through 2021 by a programme of another five lectures covering Winston Churchill, Vermeer, Grayson Perry, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.
