Chief Executive’s Message
Dear Member,
Lesson Pass
Some years ago, a free Visitor Pass was introduced for a responsible adult – i.e. non-Member grandparent / parent to bring Member children for their Junior Member lessons. The Visitor Pass was abused by a small number of Members using the gym and pools or one parent joining and the other one coming regularly on the Visitor Pass to join the family in using the Club.
As a result, the Visitor Pass was removed by the Membership Committee in autumn 2024 to review how best to fulfil the original aims of the Visitor Pass and to have a pass clearly distinguished as separate to a Nanny Pass or Guardian Pass which are paid-for passes with different uses and conditions.
From May 2025, the Membership Committee would like to introduce a LESSON PASS for responsible adults such as Nannies and non-Member parents / grandparents to bring Junior Members solely for lessons. Lesson Pass holders are not be permitted to use any of the facilities with or without the children apart from to help them get changed and have a snack.
The new Lesson Pass is free of charge, is attached to a database record for the designated adult and has the specific days and times that it is permitted for use, i.e. lesson times, added to that record as a ‘pop up’ to be seen when the card is tapped at Health Club Reception. Members must apply for a Lesson Pass by completing an application form either at Reception or via email (newmembers@roehamptonclub.co.uk) and re-apply in good time at the start of each term indicating which lessons the pass should cover. Tuition, I believe, is the bedrock of Roehampton Club as it gives every adult and junior Member the chance to improve their sporting skills. The new Lesson Pass ensures that junior Members can be brought to, and collected from, lessons in a safe manner while giving the opportunity for family members or nominated adults to watch, encourage and supervise the Junior Member. Hopefully, busy families can take advantage of this new pass from 1st May.
Bar and Terrace Refurbishment Project Update
We are progressing with both projects and thank you for your patience in having to detour around the Clubhouse on occasion to access certain areas. The Bar is on track to re-open early May but it may be the latter end of w/c 5th May depending upon a few suppliers missing deadlines which is frustrating. The function rooms are due to open on Sunday 25th May for Magic Carvery which is fully booked but please sign up for the waiting list as there will be inevitable cancellations.
We are erecting a Marquee on 1st May to host our events for the month until the function rooms are open. Once the function rooms have been handed back to us the contractor will start work refurbishing the Bridge Room on 27th May and that’s due to be completed by 27th June.
The Terrace is being dismantled and a new boundary wall is being built to the side of the 18th green with works above cutting doors into the Clubhouse taking place which may prove to be noisy and more disruptive over the next few weeks so our apologies in advance for any disruption. There will also be several deliveries of steel girders during the next fortnight so the contractor will asking for co-operation from all members and staff to adhere to all the safety notices and to obey the banksmen present.
The extended and wrap around Terrace is due to be competed in early August.
