Member Survey 2023

Reduced Food and Beverage Prices for Members

The Board’s House Committee has agreed to simplify pricing at all the Club’s food and beverage outlets by applying the lower Member price, including discount, on all food and drink purchases from 1st November 2023.
Everyone purchasing food or drink at the Club will pay the same discounted amount, whether paying on their membership card or credit/debit card, and whether for Members or non-members alike.
We will remove higher, non-member pricing from the tills and receipts.

Why? We are making this change for the following reasons:

◊ one price consistently displayed. The current dual pricing system and its inconsistent presentation on menus and till receipts causes confusion for Members and staff alike, so the new system will be clearer and simpler,
◊ no penalty if you have forgotten your membership card. Members won’t be penalised by paying higher prices, all payment methods will attract the lower, Member price,
◊ an added benefit for anyone entertaining guests. Our proportion of non-member purchases is small, but we hope that it is an added benefit for anyone entertaining guests at the Club to pay a lower Member price for all food and drink.

When? The new, single pricing will be effective from 1st November 2023.
What will change? Menu items (food and drink) will now only list the lower Member price. You will then see this price on your till receipt.
Will I be able to pay by credit card and enjoy Member’s discounted pricing? Yes
Will I be able to pay for food and drink for guests and enjoy Member’s discounted pricing? Yes
What about events for non-members? Any event hosted by a non-member for non-members will pay a higher price, not the Member’s price.
Will the annual levy still continue? Yes, every Member, (except Intermediate, Absent and Junior Members) will be charged a levy of £200 for 2024 (same cost as 2023) and continue to use it in the same way by topping up their levy card. However, if you do forget your levy card you will still receive the Member discount as its built into the prices.
How do I know what discount I’ve received on my purchase? If you’d like to know what the full price is for certain items you’ve purchased, then just add 10% to the price you paid.
Will the Board put up the Food and Drink prices up by 10% in January to compensate for the discount removal?
No, the Board wants to freeze food and drink prices in January 2024 at the 2023 prices. In fact, some items may reduce in price further as we benchmark against other local comparable outlets.

We hope this change makes purchasing food and drink at the club a clearer, simpler process.  As ever, we would of course welcome any feedback to admin@roehamptonclub.co.uk
In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying some of the price reductions the Club implemented over the summer with pizza prices down 27% to £7.50, hot dogs down 30% to £3.50 and burgers down 8% to £12.95.
As food inflation eases, we will continue to drive to make Roehampton Club very good value in these difficult times.

Andrew Walker, Chair of House Committee

Welcome to the Golf Captains

Last Saturday after the Annual Meeting of Golfers we welcomed Caroline Dewar and Peter McGovern as the new Golf Captains as they both drove off the 1st tee in style. The meeting had congratulated Charlotta Lyckeus and Simon Butler for their successful year of office as Captains and listened to Golf Committee Chair Niels Verbeek, Head Pro Ricky Pharo and Course and Grounds Director Peter Bradburn summarise the year just gone and the developments to expect in 2024 – click here for Peter Bradburn’s Annual Golf Review presentation. All were congratulated on another very successful year for the golf sections.

Ultimate Rugby Quiz and World Cup Semi Finals

Well done to Philip Greenhalgh’s team who won the Ultimate Rugby Quiz last night. It was great fun and expertly hosted by Stuart Wright.

Special mention must be made to Alun Hughes for his expert knowledge of Welsh rugby that nearly won the day for his team.

For all Members to enjoy the World Cup Semi Finals this Friday and Saturday at 8pm in the Members Bar and Piano Bar we are continuing with our special offers of a cheeseburger and a pint of San Miguel for £13.50. Click here for the poster

Come and cheer on England on Saturday as the Northern Hemisphere’s last representative team!

Best wishes

Marc
