Chair’s Message – 27 July 2023
Dear Member,
Last week was busy at the Club with two World Championships in full flow for three days – the Association Croquet World Championship featuring Members Reg Bamford, Harry Fisher, and Mark Van Loon plus the World Racketlon Championships with a number of Members participating. Unfortunately, none of our Members emerged with a world title but we received numerous compliments on the Club’s hosting skills and the presentation of the lawns and courts.
Member Survey on Masterplan 2035
The Board of Directors met this month to discuss the Masterplan 2035 and, as promised at the AGM, Members will now be consulted on the direction of travel the Board would like to make over the next three to five years on a number of capital projects.
A survey will be sent out this week by GGA Partners, our strategic consultants, asking for Member feedback by 24th August. It’s a short anonymous survey taking no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The results will be fed back to the Board in time for its annual strategy day on 21st September so please take the time to complete it. A paper version will be available at Reception if you can’t receive the survey online.
Levy Off Sales no longer available
The Board also responded to Member feedback on not allowing future off sales at the Club for unspent food and beverage levy. Some Members don’t get the chance to spend all their levy by the end of the year and ask staff to box up bottles of alcohol for them to take off site. This distracts staff from serving Members at a busy time of the year and often means making numerous calls asking Members to come and retrieve uncollected boxes in January. The Board feels that this is not best practice, and all future purchases of food and beverage should be consumed at the Club.
The Events Team will be organising two Magic Carveries in October and December plus the Christmas Punch Lunches in December giving ample opportunities for Members to use up their levy outside their day-to-day spending.
