Chief Executive’s Message

Dear Member,

With the wonderful Wimbledon Championships in full swing on our doorstep our Club is often visited by famous sports people past and present.

Over the last fortnight we have seen our friends from reciprocal club Kooyong LTC using the courts with their current star player Alex de Minaur practising here and their legendary star Pat Cash coaching here this week.

I had the pleasure of giving multi Grand Slam Champion Tracy Austin a tour of the Club before she coached a group from Tennis Ventures who come each year and before her commentating duties at Wimbledon. She loved the Club and said our grass courts were the best she had seen outside Wimbledon. Well done to our Grounds Team!

Roehampton Club Tennis Stars

The Club was well represented at Wimbledon again this year with first teamers Joe Salisbury, Cam Norrie, Arthur Fery, Ben Gusic-Wan, Ollie Binding, Hannah Klugman, Izzy Lacy all playing at the Championships over the last week. Hannah and Izzy are competing today in the quarter finals of the Junior Doubles so we wish them the best of luck.

Cricket superstars around the Club

Speaking of sporting stars we were treated last night to some wonderful cricketing stories by Members Stuart Broad and Jos Buttler. The sell-out evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all as we raised monies for the Ruth Strauss Foundation and were entertained by Paul Mendelson in his unique style interviewing the two England cricket stars. We are fortunate to have such modest and genuine cricketing superstars, along with Eoin Morgan and Ebony Rainford-Brent as Members enjoying what we have to offer with their families.

World Cup Croquet this weekend

The best croquet players in the world will be gracing our lawns this week as we host practice days and rounds of the 2023 Association Croquet World Championship. The Grounds Team have worked hard to ensure the lawns are presented to the highest standard. Please come to watch and look out for our own Harry Fisher wanting to win his first world championship and of course the legendary Reg Bamford as he looks to add another world championship title to his collection.
