Chief Executive’s Message

Dear Member,

Ongoing improvement works

I am pleased to say that the drainage works around the Club are nearly completed and can I thank everyone for their patience walking around the various work sites. With increased heavy rainfall more prevalent we need to ensure that new drainage protects all our buildings especially the Health Club which is at the lowest point on the Club site. We have to repair some broken drains along the roadway from the back gate to the Clubhouse and also extend the pipework by the entrance to the Golf Practice ground to the irrigation water storage tanks thereby future proofing our supply.

The new Clubhouse lift should be ready for use on Saturday 27th May which will be a relief for many although the temporary stair lift has worked well for those attending Bridge and other functions in the Restaurant and Club Café. Once more thank you all for your patience while this important upgrade is undertaken.

Grass Tennis Courts now open

Our Grounds Team led by Chris Hughes and Simon Bailey have produced, yet again, some wonderful grass courts for our Members to play on this summer. Eight courts opened this week for Club Night on Wednesday as courts 23 and 24 are due to open in late June following the repairs needed after the installation of Airhall Two on courts 7 to 10 last autumn.  To ensure the courts are well presented and safe to use, we will inevitably need to close the courts during periods of wet weather. Fingers crossed for a dry summer.

Club Café Bistro

We are receiving great feedback for the quality of the food and service in the Club Café Bistro on Thursday and Friday evenings. Congratulations to Executive Chef Lloyd and Head Chef Kevin and their kitchen brigade plus Will Beddall and Dev Mendes who head up the service teams.

The singles are serious and the doubles matches look like fun but are just as serious. Find full details of the finalists here

Roehampton Community Box

Our Club and its Members have been supporting the Roehampton Community Box Project since it was set up by our linked-charity Rackets Cubed during Covid. It has helped many families in Roehampton and with the cost-of-living crisis continuing it is needed now more than ever. We will be asking Members to donate items to the charity for distribution and are happy to receive them in our Security Gatehouse ready for collection to be taken to the distribution base at 166 Roehampton Lane. Please feel free to take the items to the base direct but if its easier to drop them here on your next visit we are happy to pass them on for you. Click here for more details

Best wishes,

Marc
