Chair’s Message

Dear Member,

International Award for Roehampton Club’s sustainable operation

I must start by offering my and the Board’s congratulations to Peter Bradburn and his Golf, Grounds and Gardens team for achieving GEO Certification last week.

This is awarded to golf clubs for outstanding work in fostering both flora and fauna on the estate, conserving resources and supporting the local community.

It is the first time Roehampton Club has been awarded this certification after months of assembling data to show how sustainable the Club’s Golf and Grounds operation has now become. This is a testament to the excellent work of Peter and his team in conjunction with other Club departments.

 New Board Directors

I am happy to report that we had four candidates for four places to serve on the Board from June 2023. This means that subject to ratification at the AGM on 22nd May 2023, Henrietta O’Shea will be re-elected as a Director and Oliver Milton, Emma Neate and Anne Wilkinson will be elected to the Board in June 2023.  Click here for the details of each Director

In approximately two weeks you will receive by email the Notice of the AGM and the proxy forms, together with the Annual Report and Accounts for 2022. I am pleased to report that 2022 has been another successful year for the Club on a sporting and development level.

Please make a diary note to try to attend the AGM as we will also be updating Members on the revised Development Masterplan 2035. We will be sharing exciting details about the proposed Indoor Golf Centre (IGC) and Short Game Practice Area as we have submitted a pre application to Wandsworth Council planning department to talk through our plans and to see what we will be permitted to progress with. We hope to be able to report on this meeting at the AGM.

Top tennis at the Club

Last weekend Members watched our Ladies’ and Men’s first teams defeat Cumberland Club on courts 7-10 as with Airhall 2 now dismantled for the summer these courts will be used for our top team matches.  Two Juniors were making their debut in National League One – Hannah Klugman (14) and Ben Gusic-Wan (15), both are British No. 1 for the U16 age group, and they are the youngest players to play for our First Teams. Both won their matches. This Sunday the Men’s Second Team are playing in the morning and the Men’s First team are playing in the afternoon. The Ladies are playing away. We are the only Club to have two men’s teams in National League One such is our strength in depth.
