Activities and Games
There is more to Roehampton Club than simply sports. Complement your membership with an activity or game – from art, photography and choir to bridge, backgammon, snooker and chess.
Bridge
Bridge Members have exclusive use of an attractively appointed Bridge Room, accommodating up to 20 tables in a light and airy space. This active and welcoming section caters for all standards of player, from beginner to social to competitive, with an emphasis on enjoyable bridge at all levels.
A comprehensive programme of weekly classes and coaching is offered at the Club and the bridge programme includes: Duplicate Bridge, Teams of Four, Chicago, Classes, Supervised Play, Gentle Duplicate and a full fixture list of inter-club matches, internal and external competitions and social events.
Art Group and PhotoClub
Many Members like to balance their sporting activities with the pleasures of pursuing art and photography in the congenial atmosphere of their own art studio. The Art Group and PhotoClub, offer an exciting range of art and photographic courses, lectures, visits, demos, tutorials, painting days, photo shoots and exhibitions.
Snooker
We have a dedicated Snooker Room with singles and doubles matches taking place throughout the year. Members take part in competitions such as the London Clubs Handicap Competition and there are regular friendly matches and competitions with other Clubs.
Snooker professionals are regular visitors to Roehampton Club. Snooker Tuition Days take place with professionals to help all Members improve their game.
Ladies’ Choir
Club Member, professional singer and vocal coach, Anna Boucher set up the Club’s Ladies’ Choir in March 2017. With Anna’s professional guidance and infectious cheer, Members have been supported back into singing and have gone on to perform for the annual Committee Christmas Drinks and at local care homes and churches.
Backgammon
Tuition is provided by Club Members, Gill and Chris Bray. Chris is the backgammon columnist for The Times newspaper and the author of nine books on the game.
Monthly Club Nights offer a mixture of instruction, tournament play and casual play and our weekly Teatime Backgammon is aimed at beginners and intermediates.
The Club fields a team in the London League against opposition such as the RAC, MCC and Hurlingham Club.
Chess
The Club caters for all standards of players and is particularly adept at rehabilitating people ‘who used to play at school’. Internally there are a number of knockout events and an external inter-club league.
Poker
The Club runs fun friendly, Texas Hold’em tournament poker sessions every fortnight throughout the year.
Membership
Roehampton Club is home to an impressive range of sports facilities, a variety of games and activities, experienced staff and social events that offer the opportunity for Members, their friends and family to come together for competition, coaching, fun and relaxation.
Golf
The Club has a thriving and enthusiastic golf membership. The magnificent 18-hole parkland course is renowned for its excellent presentation and super smooth greens.
Tennis
With 30 courts in total, we offer a fantastic range of indoor and outdoor playing surfaces including real grass, synthetic grass, Poraflex and smash.
