On Course Foundation

On Course Foundation

We were delighted when we were approached by John Simpson, Chairman and Founder of On Course Foundation, to once again host a fundraising event and to provide some golf and tuition for a group of injured ex-servicemen.  Richard Harrison, Head Professional at Roehampton Club has given much of his time over the last four years to teaching the injured servicemen golf, and indeed the OCF was the chosen charity of Stuart Loggie, this year's Golf Captain.

On Course is an initiative created to offer wounded, injured and sick men and women who are retired or still serving in the military, the opportunity to participate in golf on a level playing field with others.  Its aims are to provide an introduction to golf, to supply equipment and access to golf courses and practice facilities, and to provide work placements within the golf industry.

On Tuesday his week, 18 servicemen had the opportunity to receive some excellent practice and tuition from Richard and the next day to take part in a 4 ball competition, each with 3 members.  As Golf Captain Roger Mountney said, "we all just had a lot of fun".   Members said " It was a privilege to have the ex-servicemen at the Club, to play golf with them and help with their rehabilitation into society again after what they have gone through for us".

Together with the Captain's charity funds and other contributions across the year, the Club was delighted to have raised over £6000 for this very worthwhile cause.  If you would like to donate to the On Course Foundation, here is the link. http://www.oncoursefoundation.com/donate/
