Daryl's double delight at Grand Prix
Title
Daryl Selby took the JW Cannon BSPA Grand Prix Finals with victory
over South African international Shaun le Roux at Roehampton
Club.
Defending his title Daryl started the first game patiently as he
and Shaun exchanged points but from 4/2 up Daryl then took control
building a 10/2 lead before closing out the game 11/4. In the
2nd game, Shaun looked to play more shots and was now
getting himself into the match but at 8/8 Daryl covered the court
exceptionally well retrieving all of Shaun's shots and a mix of
wonderful shot making and a Shaun error saw Daryl take the game
11/8 and go 2-0 up. The 3rd game entertained a packed
crowd but some unforced errors from Shaun gave Daryl a 6/3 lead
with Daryl then seeming more confident hitting some wonderful
winners to go 10/4 up and closed out the game and match 11/5 taking
the title.
Daryl appropriately thanked those involved in the event at the
Roehampton Club, including sponsors JW Cannon, and looked forward
to returning next year to defend the title.

Alison takes Grand Prix Title
Alison Waters was clearly happy with her performance to win the JW
Cannon BSPA Grand Prix Finals winning in straight sets over Millie
Tomlinson.
A fast start from Ali in the 1st racing to a 5/2 lead
gave Millie little time to settle, then 9/6 although Millie was
playing well and battling to get back into the game. Millie fought
hard to get back to 9/9 but Ali took the first 11/9 with some
excellent volleying. The 2nd seemed to be a repeat of
the 1st game as Ali led 6/3 and Millie made Ali work for
every point. The game became littered with decisions but Ali was
too tight at the front of the court and held on to take the
2nd game 11/6. The 3rd mirrored the previous
2 games as Ali raced to a 4/1 lead with both players looking to
take control of the 'T'. Ali used her experience to keep her lead
despite a spirited fight back from Millie to 9/8, Ali closed out
the game and match deservedly 11/8.
Ali was clearly pleased to win thanking the crowd for their
support and JW Cannon for the tournament.
Alison Waters bt Millie Tomlinson 3-0, 11/9, 11/6, 11/8
